Why Dota Pugs

Better games.
No fairytales.

We're not trying to fix Dota. We took what actually works from both Dota 2 ranked and Faceit hubs, combined them, and cut everything that doesn't.

Head to head

Dota 2 Ranked
Dota Pugs ★
Faceit Hubs
Rank Integrity

Smurfs and boosted accounts are everywhere

Fresh system — your rank is yours, built here from scratch

Same Dota account, same old smurf problem

Communication

No enforcement. No-comm is a normal experience

Voice comms required. No mic, no queue

Optional and hub-dependent, rarely enforced

Role System

Role queue exists and works — roles are picked before the match

Same role queue, enforced harder — your role is locked before the lobby is even created

Usually no role system at all — free-for-all lobbies

MMR Accuracy

One global MMR for every role you play

Independent Glicko-2 rating per role — carry ≠ support

Single Elo for all roles combined

Match Balance

Role isn't factored into team balance calculation

Snake draft by role-specific MMR. Fair by design

Basic Elo balance, no role awareness

Report System

Automated but slow to act — millions of players dilute every report

Automated like Dota's — smaller community means stricter thresholds and faster punishment

Moderated per hub — quality varies widely

Active Seasons

No seasons. The last rank reset was so long ago most players don't remember it

Live seasons keep the leaderboard competitive and meaningful

Hub admin manages — inconsistent across hubs

Skill Gates

Anyone can queue into any bracket with a fresh account

Calibration puts you where you belong before you affect others

Some hubs open to all, some gated — unpredictable

Good Partial Problem

An honest note

You will still get bad games. Teammates will still tilt. Mistakes will still happen. We are not removing the human element from Dota — that would also remove everything that makes it worth playing.

What we are removing: rank bloat from account buyers, role chaos from players who ignore their pick, the MMR lottery from playing all roles on one number, and reports that disappear into a void.

We want better Dota 2 games. Not a different game. Just games where the 10 players are close in skill, playing their queued role, and talking.

What we actually commit to

Your rank means something

No rank carries over from Dota. Everyone calibrates here. A Diamond here played their way to Diamond here.

Comms are not optional

Reports are automated — but this community is small enough that patterns surface fast and bans land fast.

You play your role, every game

Your role is locked before the lobby is created. No one is stealing your lane. The system assigns before you even load Dota.

The algorithm knows your role

Your carry MMR and your support MMR are separate. You won't be punished for flex-playing — each role is judged on its own merit.

A few more things worth knowing

01

Support MMR won't bleed into your carry games

In Dota, flexing roles costs MMR. Here each role is independent. Play support for a friend without touching your carry rank.

02

Seasons keep the leaderboard alive

Dota boards go stale — high accounts stop playing and sit forever. Our seasons mean the top reflects who's actually competing now.

03

Accountability has a paper trail

Every match is logged. Admins see full history, not just one report. Repeat offenders can't hide behind isolated incidents.

04

The algorithm is smarter about you

Glicko-2 tracks rating uncertainty per role. New players move fast to their true bracket. Established players see stable, fair changes.
